During the Lenten Season, we cling to traditions that help us grow in our faith. Each year, they seem both familiar and brand new. . . because our understanding builds framework, and more importantly, because Christ is working in our hearts.
And oh, to see the "bigs" introduce Micah to our favorites. . . both old and new. . .
A reading each night, following the life of Jesus from His Dedication in the Temple to His Resurrection.
It has been so beautiful to have Luke and Elise read the passages this year.
Annual planting of the Easter grass in baskets, reminding us that we have new life and growth in Christ.
After reading Arnold Ytreeide's books for Advent for the past three years, we knew that his Lenten story was a must have. We are rapt by Amon's Adventure- the suspense, the weaving in of Jotham, Bartholomew, and Tabitha from the other books, the cultural context and rich historical connections and Ytreeide's gentle nudge to examine hearts and motives.
And, as Elise reminded me a few days back. . .The Empty Tomb Cookies. Yes, the night before Easter, we'll be making these. . .always a sweet, joyous reminder on Easter Morning.
